Frequently Asked Questions
A therapist helps you work through the past and deal with mental health diagnoses like anxiety, depression, or trauma.
They’re trained to dig into deep emotional wounds, patterns, and diagnoses using clinical methods like CBT, EMDR, or talk therapy.
A coach, on the other hand, works with you in the present — helping you build a recovery plan, take action, and stay accountable.
We focus on what’s happening right now and how to move forward, using real-life tools, structure, and support.
We don’t replace therapy — we complement it. If you’re already working with a therapist, a coach can be part of your care team, helping you apply what you’re learning in real life.
Think of a coach like a recovery foreman — helping you rebuild, one step at a time.
There’s no perfect moment — but if you’re even asking the question, you’re probably closer than you think.
Some guys bring a coach in early, just trying to get a grip. Others wait until they’ve hit a wall. Either way, coaching meets you where you’re at — no judgment, no expectations.
Ask yourself:
Has my drinking or drug use been creeping up, and I can’t seem to get a handle on it?
Have I quit before, but can’t seem to stay sober?
Is my job, relationship, or daily life starting to take hits because of it?
Do I feel stuck and unsure of what to do next?
A recovery coach can help you figure that out.
We help break things down, sort through the noise, and build a simple, practical plan — one that might include other support like therapy, detox, or group work. You don’t need to have it all figured out. That’s what we’re here for.
If you’re struggling to answer “What now?” — coaching might be your next step.
The cost of coaching can vary based on experience, location, and what’s included. At Blue Collar Recovery, we keep things simple — with straight-up pricing and flexible options that meet you where you're at.
We offer three tiers so you can choose the level of support that fits your needs, goals, and budget.

Simple, flexible, and built to fit your life — not disrupt it.
Right now, most extended health plans in Canada don’t cover recovery coaching — even though they should. Because of that, we can’t bill insurance directly.
That said, coaching is becoming more recognized across North America. Some workplaces and unions are starting to accept coaching receipts under wellness or personal development budgets.
It’s always worth checking with your benefits provider. Ask if they cover services by a Certified Recovery Coach or allow spending under a wellness or mental health allowance.
Until then, we aim to keep our pricing simple, transparent, and flexible — with no hidden fees or contracts.
